> Meteo > F.A.Q > Problem of a station reset after a thunderstorm

In case of diversion due to a thunderstorm, the station restarts automatically after a period that can go from few hours to few days.

Recent stations are equipped with a watchdog system that allows an almost immediate restart.

Grounding of the station helps in preventing this diversion. It garanties to have data without interruption: most of the stations never reset during few years periods.

In case of a station that resets often after a thunderstorm, it is important to verify its grounding :

  • Verify the continuity of ground cables.
  • Make sure there is no oxidation in the various interconnection points.
  • Verify the various spark gaps on the station terminal board.
