Specific parts of a GSM automatic weather station
A GSM station needs the use of the following parts:
- A GSM modem
- An antenna
- A 12V battery
- A 12V solar panel ( as replacement of the standard
one)
GSM subscription
The GSM transmission needs a GSM DATA subscription.
The cellular operators propose differents data accounts
: Voice data/ fax, data only, ...
To reduce costs, the GSM station call the main computer.
The communication link is established at 9600 bauds. At
this baudrate, up to 3 weeks of data can be transfered in
only one minute.
Operating mode
The GSM station must be configured to call the PC phone
number at a user-specified time.
The station will daily call the PC at the setted time.
If the transmission isn't successful, the station will try
a new call 15 minutes later.
Besides, a manual call can be done by the user.
The CimSta software can manage a network composed of called
stations (usualy wired phone lines) and calling stations
(GSM).
When the PC receives a call, it identifies the caller and
execute the specified script for this caller.
